Necromancy, originally named R.O.T. (Reek of Terror), evolved in the Greek Thrash / Death metal scene in late 80's.

They were among the Second Wave of Black Metal among bands like Rotting Christ, Varathron, and Necromantia which later became the fathers of Greek Black Metal. They were originally formed by Chris Tsoukalas, Giannis Karasarinis, Vagelis Vafias and Magus Wampyr Daoloth.

1989: They released a debut Demo Tape in ‘Visions Of Lunacy’ Although the demo material displayed potential for the band’s growth, Necromancy’s existence was short-lived.

After the release of the demo there was a disagreement toward the direction of the band (more Thrash/Death style) but Magus Wampyr Daoloth preferred a darker Black metal direction and that is why he left the band and created Necromantia. Chris Tsoukalas who previously played rhythm guitar, took responsibility for the bass.

1991: Necromancy entered the studio as a three-piece to record a Mini LP entitled “Ancient Wrath”. Unfortunately that recording would never see the light of day, nor would the many other songs the band had written but not yet recorded.

1992: In that year's winter Giannis Karasarinis ("Living Dead"), while serving in the Greek military, suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 20. Without him Hades and Unblessed chose to disband and the “Ancient Wrath” Mini LP remained unreleased and unheard for over two decades until its recent release in 2015 by Nuclear War Now! Productions
