SILENT SHADOWS – Transitions CD

There were a lot of interesting things happening in the Prog/Power underground scene in the USA, during the late 90s, just before the rise of the new millennium. Progressive Metal was huge, the big bands had managed overtaking Europe and USA through their classic albums and the smaller newcomers were setting the artistic standards even higher through their releases.
One of the greatest examples of the above situation was Silent Shadows from West Haven, Connecticut, USA. Their “Transitions” Demo CD was released back in 1999. No “Transitions” was not just another, private release in the Prog/Power vein. “Transitions” was a piece of magnificent art. Arkeyn Steel records re-releases “Transitions” adding the pre-production material of what was supposed to be the band’s “The Passage Between Night and Day” debut album, a release that unfortunately was never completed and the pre-production songs remained stored for ages.
On “Transitions”, the band presents the perfect combination of Melodic, Prog and Power Metal through five songs that will stick in your mind forever. On the bonus prep-roduction tracks the listener will discover a more complex still very catchy and to the point version of Silent Shadows. The charismatic voice of Bill DiCaprio is the top feature in here while the other members (from bands like Beyond Reality, Radium etc) are yet adding their magnificent parts to the musical supremacy.
The appearance at the Powermad Festival back in 2000 (one of the most important fests for Prog and Power Metal sound back in the day) and their shows with Fates Warning and Savatage are some remarkable examples of the band’s greatness on stage. For sure they could have played even more live shows and produce even more songs, but they disbanded in 2006.
Through the “Transitions” reissue you will be able to discover the Silent Shadows treasure yourself. All the audio material has been remastered from scratch in Infinity studio by Kostas Scandalis. An extensive biography is provided by Wayne Petroskey, guitarist of the band and of course there are lots of never before seen photos plus complete song lyrics.
