Ugra Karma is a death metal band formed in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1999. They were the first band to play metal music in the country, and are known as metal icons in South Asia, having performed at various metal festivals not only in Asia but also in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world.
The EP “Mountain Grinders” released in 2015 as the band's reunion after around 13-year hiatus, is an ambitious work with a worldview and sound reminiscent of their native Nepal, and a strong sense of originality. And their third release (second full-length album), “Photonic Death” released only on cassette tape in 2022, is a masterpiece of absolute originality and charisma that further advances the musicality of the previous album and brings to fruition the identity of Nepalese origin in their music. This reissue features these two works on one CD, both with a new cover art design.
